I.W.G. Zipper Pulls

Zipper Pulls

Zipper Plus
We recently posted about the upcoming I.W.G. Zipper Pulls (.8 – 1”) debuting at SDCC from Rocketworld. Now, thanks to Patrick Ma (OtterX), we have shots of the 13 regular pieces + nice silhouettes of the four chase figures (after the jump) The opaque white ones look like they might be GID (will try to confirm). As you can see, it’s a bear’s world – but the Rhino and the Mountain Gorilla get a lil’ love as well.

New Kingken

Kingken

It can now be revealed. STRANGEco’s elusive crossover project with James Jarvis and Amos Toys is … a series of King Ken blind-boxed minis. This took a little getting used to for us – King Ken is large and in charge. So minis seem a little out of character (that’s our inner toy nerd escaping for all to see), but these look good and are a chance for fans to readily pick up editions they might have missed of the larger version. What’s your take on these? Btw, if you are the first person to ID the guy in the pic (and don’t work for STRANGEco or his firm, we’ll send you a VP Buka). Leave a comment. And no, it’s not James Jarvis!

Close Up with tokidoki’s Skeletrina

Toki Doki

About a month ago we blogged about the new tokidoki grim reaper cats – Skeletrino and Skeletrina, from STRANGEco. Each retails for $10.99 and should be dropping any day now. We were fortunate enough to find both in our mailbox these other days, so naturally we opened ‘em up and played around (yes, it’s a job! Well… sort of!). These newest creations from Simone Legno are some of his nicest figures yet (though Bulleto is a level beyond).

The first interesting (and cool) thing is that these are larger than the advertised 1.5” tall, and are over 2” to the top of the body and close 2.5” if you rotate the articulating sickle (all the better to reap with) shaped tail to dead center. While both are cool and we don’t mean to be sexist per se, Skeletrina really steals the show.

Who says you can’t be a grim reaper and do it in style? Instead of the classic black, Skeletrina’s a slightly bluish purple and has a sweet and amusing luxury hand-bag style all-over gold print design. The devil is in the details here –, tokidoki heart+crossbones, little reaper graphics, skull star, and bones tying it all together. Great concept pulled off well.

Finally, to match her luxury look Skeletrina has nicely accessorized her outfit with two molded barrettes (white on the forehead, black on the tail) and also has a molded anklet.

tokidoki’s Skeletrina is small enough to put anywhere yet flashy enough to start a conversation or at least turn a head. If you’re just picking up one (curse the falling dollar), choose Skeletrina. Though really, both would be twice as nice. Click through for a full gallery of the purple and gold deadly diva.
