With the recent crossover hype, Daft Punk is once again (or perhaps finally) getting its due. Medicom is honoring the talented duo with a first — a set of two 400% Be@rbricks. According to Hypebeast, Medicom will drop another 400% 2-pack in the coming months [Source: Hypebeast].
T9G’s singular brand of monster couture is in high gear. After debuting the Yumenko VCD with the Kodomo edition about a month ago , he’s about to drop the Neko edition from Medicom at Aoyama fashion hot spot, The Contemporary Fix on Saturday, October 11th. The figure stands a whopping 310mm (12+ inches) and will retail for 13,440 yen (~ $127 USD).
While the bright colored fashion flourishes and freaky plush mask make a return, you’ll notice that the head sculpt is completely new and actually is closer to T9G’s older toys. Neko is cute while Kodomo was downright melancholy and a little freaky. T9G and Medicom continue to push the boundaries of vinyl and it’s a great ride.
Beyond the toy angle, it’s interesting to note the fashion angle. T9G has previously collaborated with Aoyama fashion mecca Loveless on the Loveless VCD. Now, he’s dropping a toy at The Contemporary Fix. In the middle of this toy-fashion blend is Yuichi Yoshi who created The Contemporary Fix and is a key player at Loveless.
yahuuuuiiiiiiiii akhirnya Kaws - Original fake, under Medicom toys mengeluarkan sebuah figure baru dari setnya Mr Brian Donelly, rupanya setalah Darth Vader, kali Kaws berubah bentuk menjadi Strom trooper, walah pusing ga, dengan bentuk tentara dari Balck star ini, malah toysrevil salah satu blog dari singapore, membuat statement yang membuat sugesti seorang kolektor, dengan kata kata simetriskah..?? Lol ya memang sangat simetris apabila kita sudah mempunyai satu buah Kaws Darth vader yang sekarang sudah dihargai sekitar USD 500, ditambah dengan soldier Cloningnya dibalakang HAHAHAHA, tapi mungkin tidak simetris dengan kantong, hari pertama figure ini dirilis pada tanggal 27 nanti, Medicom memberi bandrol harga USD 150/pcs untuk figure ini, mmmhhh mungkin murah ya, ya ini harga awal dari figure Kaws terbaru yang sudah hot dari 2 atau 3 bulan lalu di forum forum toys diselruh dunia, ga tahu 3 atau 4 bulan lagi, mungkin sudah naik 50% dari harga aslinya…hehehe tapi satu pertanyaan saya apakah Brian Donelly adalah seorang penggemar Star Wars..ini kah akhir dari hubungan Kaws dengan figure figure Star Wars..?? ataukah dia akan berubah menjadi Luck Sky Walker atau han Solo atau seekor Wookie ya kita lihat saja….selamat mencari teman teman (M!) - mytummytoyas 2008 -
Who is KAWS :
His real name is Brian Donnelly; he’s from Jersey City, born in 1974. He attended New York’s School of Visual Arts and worked for Disney as a freelance animator after graduation. I met him last year at a rare personal appearance at Undefeated LA - the place was beyond packed, and he seemed nervous and shy. If I were to sum him up in a sentance, it would be “Kaws is a major figure in the movement of underground graffiti culture to the mainstream of gallery art and commercial absorption that began with Jean-Michel Basquiat,” which is true, but doesn’t say anything about the content of his work.
