Happy New Year! Here’s a close-up look at what’s likely to go down as one of the top toys of ‘09 — MINDstyle’s 9″ Two-Faced Hazel from Kathie Olivas. This larger figure is based off of the chase figure of the same name from Scavengers Series 1. It’s the first larger format Scavengers figure. The regular edition of Two-Faced Hazel will drop worldwide on Tuesday, January 6th 2009 from your favorite toy shop for $89.99 and is limited to 500 pieces

Kathie Olivas will un veil Uninvited Guest, a new body of work featuring small paintings, drawings and custom toys @ myplasticheart nyc. Featuring her Misery Children and their post-apocalyptic reality and challenges the show opens on Friday, October 17th [6-9 PM] and runs through 11.19. To celebrate the arrival of Kathie Olivas’s Scavengers 2 mini-series, MINDstyle is releasing an all-white edition of the Lainey and Fernando chase figure, a collaboration with husband Brandt Peters, as a special First Day Release edition (FDR). This special edition is limited to 300 pieces, and features a white “FDR” box sleeve.
We’re pleased to announce that the Scavengers 2 FDR figure will be available exclusively from Vinyl Pulse Exclusives at 6 PM PDT tomorrow - Friday, October 24th, which is the release day for the Scavengers 2 series. The figure will be $25 and be strictly limited to one per household. It will only be available on the first day of the S2 release — just one day. After that it will no longer be available for retail purchase anywhere.
Today MINDstyle officially launches its international division with new head offices in China and announces the MINDstyle LIFEstyle space in Hong Kong opening on August 22nd.
To celebrate the news on such an auspicious day (08.08.08) here in the states, and to commemorate the Olympics in China, MINDstyle will be releasing three highly sought after collectibles in Hong Kong with the Delay No Mall in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong home to its new MINDstyle LIFEstyle creative space.
The figures scheduled to drop are MINDstyle’s 16” Panda Slap Happy by Brandt Peters, MINDstyle’s Benny & Red Bird Hot Version by Kathie Olivas and MINDstyle’s 8” China Star by Buff Monster. Each of these three figures are limited to 88 pieces worldwide.
