HUCK GEE NEW PRINT

The nanobots are everywhere… And back to their bad habits… a juicy pic with no real info. So we’re going to assume this is a nocturnal version of Huck’s previous Sunset Rooftops print. We do now know how surveillance was done back then… who needs police ‘copters when you’ve got blimps…

Kathie Olivas - Scavengers 2

MINDstyle’s Scavengers 2 mini-fig series by Kathie Olivas will drop at toy retailers around the country last Friday, October 24th. The follow-up to the red hot first Scavengers series features 7 new figures including a sweet chase, Lainey and Fernando (above, far left), which is a collaboration between Kathie and husband Brandt Peters. Retailing for 11.99 each, the blind-assorted Scavengers 2 figures come in deluxe packaging featuring a swanky magnetic closure box and a slip-on outer sleeve.

Kathie’s large and growing legion of fans have made her one of the most in-demand artists in the art toy scene and are sure to pick these up quickly, so don’t snooze. The hunt begins tomorrow.

MINDstyle’s Abraham Obama by Ron English

Ron English’s Abraham Obama monotone painting (reproduction shown below) was originally commissioned by William Kerr, owner of Gallery XIV in Boston, for the “A Politic” show and later became a series of Warholesque rainbow-hued posters.

VISEone – Sea Hunter, Blue Bats

Germany’s VISEone sent along these pics of the final approved production sample of his Sea Hunter figure. Limited to 50 pieces, the whimsical 8” resin figure is available through Patch Together for a very reasonable $44.99 and will come with a stand. Also look for a small number of special editions shortly from VISEone directly on viesone.de.

When we first saw the raw unpainted sculpts, it had a very gritty fantasy look. With the final paint job, Sea Hunter has an animated character vibe. In fact, this final version reminds use just a bit of the Gargolyes cartoon.

Nathan Jurevicius - Monkey King Earth Edition

Munky King has just dropped the main Earth Edition of Nathan Jurevicius’s Monkey King figure. Based on an animation done awhile back for MTV Asia, Nathan’s design brings a slightly cartoony approach to the legendary mythical Chinese warrior/prankster. Staying true to the legend, Monkey King comes with a removable cloud base (nifty surface treatment), staff, and crown. The face design conveys a strong personality and works really well with this color edition.

The highlight feature of the figure is his dexterity — thanks to the bendy tail, he can wield his staff in numerous positions - out in front, above his head (2-handed) and partially behind his back (1 hand and tail). Great stuff.

Standing 8″ tall, Monkey King Earth edition is limited to 600 pieces, retails for a suggested $55 and is available at your favorite designer toy store. (source - vinylpulse)
