with all the new-fangledness of the IRON MAN movie’s Mark-3 armor, one may loose sight of it’s OG comicbook-design, and 1/6-customizer GREYDEATH [tagged] is here to remind IM-fans, with his 1/6th-scaled armor-kit, molded to fit Dragon Neo3 / Neo-bodies [via] currently awaiting completion of hand-casting, there is no indication of having this awesome-set being produced for the Iron-masses - but i’ll be sure to letcha folks know when he dooes!

Buff Monster opened his Kaiju-inspired Born of the Abyss solo at Giant Robot New York on Saturday, April 19th during NYCC. This show was a change-up from Buff with a different look featuring Kaiju monsters, dark Japanese mantras, and geometric patterns in his signature pink and silver. Buff’s passion for Kaiju carried over from the paintings to a small run of custom Deathras. The show pieces are now available online — check it out. Click through for more pics from the show including pics of the master of pink. The show runs through May 14th, 2008.

Amanda Visell’s custom 20″ Gnome Eating Bat Munny (Kidrobot) features one happy (and full) bat and a sad (eaten) Gnome. it shows off her construction skills as well as her painting talent. This custom seems to bring Amanda’s Gnome vs. Ants painting to life. This excellent piece will be auctioned by the celebrated Christie’s auction house (New York) in June (details to come).
The fairly recent trend of placing designer toys (production and custom) in high-end art auctions seems to be growing and certainly worth watching. Will auctions serve as one way of establishing these toys as art objects within the larger art community ? We’ll see.
